Proceeds from band’s new special edition vinyl single will aid displaced Ukrainians

Canadian-American rock band Envy of None is once again stepping up for Ukraine.

The band announced that proceeds from the sale of a limited edition 12-inch coloured vinyl single of their newly released track, Thrill of The Chase, from their second album Stygian Wavz, will be donated to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to support its lifesaving humanitarian response in Ukraine.

Envy of None features former Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson, bassist Andy Curran, keyboardist Alfio Annibalini, and singer-songwriter Maiah Wynne. The launch of their new single marks the band’s second collaboration with UNHCR Canada, following their 2022 initiative to raise funds for displaced Ukrainians through music.

Speaking on the charity aspect of the single, the band shared:

“It is disheartening and infuriating that three years after Envy of None initiated a fundraiser in support of the people of Ukraine, as they battle the invasion of their sovereign country by Russia, we are once again trying to do our part and ask you, sincerely, for your support in this repeated initiative. Every little bit counts, and our hope is that our collective assistance will ease their burden even a little — and that we never have to do this again.

We are proud of the work we’ve done and prouder still of our commitment to making the world a better place. With the purchase of this record, you too are helping ease their pain. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.”

Now in its fourth year, the war in Ukraine continues to devastate lives and communities. UNHCR is on the ground delivering immediate, life-saving assistance to people who have been newly displaced, evacuated from frontline areas, or who are victims of aerial strikes and shelling in residential areas. This includes shelter, emergency cash, legal aid, and psychosocial support – often the only help available to those who have lost everything.

The support from Envy of None comes at a time when humanitarian needs in Ukraine are escalating, with over 12 million people in urgent need of assistance, while funding has long been a challenge and now, is more uncertain than ever.

Tracey Maulfair, UNHCR Representative in Canada, said:

“This generous contribution from Envy of None and their fans helps us reach families who have lost everything to war. It’s a powerful reminder that solidarity can come in many forms, including music. With support like this, we and our partners in Ukraine can continue to provide shelter, psychosocial support, and emergency aid to those who need it most.”
