Obed Tuyizere, 24, is a Rwandan who is part of the environmental club in Kigeme refugee camp.

“The project is helping to protect the environment. You can see from all the trees that it is a success. We have heard about the recent landslides and floods that have occurred in other districts in Rwanda and think there is much which we have learned here which we could share. Living in a high risk zone is difficult both for refugees and Rwandans so this project is beneficial for us both.” ; Kigeme refugee camp is
located in Nyamagabe District in
the Southern Province of
Rwanda. All refugees are
Congolese.
The camp was established in
2012. 34 hectares of land were
allocated to host refugees.
MINEMA administers the camp
and is responsible for security and
protection of the refugees in
coordination with UNHCR.
