Early donor support tops $1 billion for 2026, but widening funding gaps leave millions at risk
Donor governments today pledged $1.161 billion to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to provide life-saving protection, assistance and solutions in 2026 to millions forced to flee. This is slightly above the amount pledged last year for UNHCR’s operations in 2025, which was an all-time high.
UNHCR: Nearly 100,000 displaced in recent weeks as violence spreads across northern Mozambique
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is gravely concerned as intensifying attacks on villages and the rapid spillover of the conflict into previously safe districts force tens of thousands of people to flee across northern Mozambique, with close to 100,000 displaced in the past fortnight alone.
