The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Canada is pleased to welcome Mr. Joey Hanna as Head of Montreal Field Unit. Mr. Hanna is an accomplished lawyer who dedicated his career to defending and representing vulnerable populations. Before joining UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Mr. Hanna worked at Legal Aid Montreal and taught law.
In his new role, Mr. Hanna will lead the Montreal office and support UNHCR’s activities and operations in Quebec, including protection, communications and external relations, durable solutions, and private-sector partnerships.
Mr. Hanna succeeds Ms. Denise Otis who led the Montreal office since 2019.
