World Refugee Day
Saturday June 20, 2020
Everyone can make a difference. Every action counts.
This year we mark World Refugee Day in a very different world. The coronavirus pandemic that has changed our lives has also created solidarity that transcends borders.
In the time of COVID, we celebrate refugees who are on the frontlines fighting this pandemic, their hosts and the aid workers supporting them. We have seen everyday heroes from all walks of life step up to join the front lines of this crisis. This World Refugee Day join us in creating a more inclusive world where no one is left behind.
Cities across Canada are embracing refugees and becoming more connected because refugees are here, becoming colleagues, neighbours, and friends. At a time when conflict and persecution is uprooting millions of people worldwide, Canadian cities need to continue their support for refugees.
Please join us today by persuading your city to join with the UN Refugee Agency. Ask your mayor to officially stand with refugees and cities across the world by signing the UNHCR Statement of Solidarity with Refugees. Tell your city you stand #WithRefugees.
