UNHCR staff bring expertise from many fields, each vital for rapid, large-scale operations to protect civilians and save lives during conflict and disaster. As any one moment, the agency maintains enough relief items to protect as many as 600,000 people in a single influx.

Expertise comes from every area. Architects to project manage shelter construction, engineers to install water and sanitation, medics to treat the injured on arrival and logistics planners to coordinate vast supplies and transport, such as emergency airlifts.

A global network of UNHCR aid stockpiles ensures rapid response across the globe. Relief items and equipment are warehoused in seven strategic hubs – Copenhagen, Amman, Nairobi, Isaka, Douala, Dubai and Accra – to enable immediate transit to anywhere in the world.

How can you help families?

Donate today to help protect the most vulnerable refugees and provide them with safety and shelter at times of crisis. Your generosity could also help give families the legal support they need to apply for asylum and find long-term solutions to their troubles. Voluntary contributions make our work possible. UNHCR receives 1% from the UN and fundraises for the rest. Thank you for standing with refugees.
