He offered to take a family that would be difficult to settle, one unlikely to be accepted by other countries. Vicky Baril and Leona Heuver were busy young mothers with children of their own. But they didn\u2019t hesitate to help, feeling it was their duty as Christians to assist people in need. They were matched with Mrs. Tran, a seamstress and widow with five children who had fled Vietnam by boat and languished for eight months in a Malaysian refugee camp. They became close friends with Mrs. Tran and the children as the family prospered, celebrating birthdays and weddings together. The youngest Tran daughter Nhung was a star student and became a family doctor. When she saw the heartbreaking images of Syrian refugees in 2015, she decided to follow in her sponsors footsteps. She formed two groups, one with the children of her original sponsors, the other with a group of Vietnamese friends who like her had come as refugees. He offered to take a family that would be difficult to settle, one unlikely to be accepted by other countries. Vicky Baril and Leona Heuver were busy young mothers with children of their own. But they didn\u2019t hesitate to help, feeling it was their duty as Christians to assist people in need. They were matched with Mrs. Tran, a seamstress and widow with five children who had fled Vietnam by boat and languished for eight months in a Malaysian refugee camp. They became close friends with Mrs. Tran and the children as the family prospered, celebrating birthdays and weddings together. The youngest Tran daughter Nhung was a star student and became a family doctor. When she saw the heartbreaking images of Syrian refugees in 2015, she decided to follow in her sponsors footsteps. She formed two groups, one with the children of her original sponsors, the other with a group of Vietnamese friends who like her had come as refugees.
