The new UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi will be in Ottawa on 19-22 March 2016. As part of his first official mission to Canada, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees will meet with senior government Officials and will address the Canadian media on challenges currently faced by his Office and the international community to effectively protect and assist the growing number of refugees and displaced people. The High Commissioner will also use this opportunity to meet representatives of key local grassroots groups on Canada’s exemplary Syrian refugee resettlement efforts and will provide a lecture at Carleton University.
