How to get involved in Canada
Helping refugees starts at home
Refugees anywhere in the world are people like each of us. They live in a community of friends, family and social groups. Frequently, it is the strength of their community that allows them to survive. This page contains suggestions on how you can enlist your community—friends, family, colleagues and others—to raise funds to support UNHCR’s work with refugees and other displaced people.
Community Fundraising
-
If you would like to help refugees, UNHCR would like to help you organize a fundraising event in your community. Please download our Community Fundraising Handbook for ideas. After reading the handbook, please contact withyou@unhcr.ca for more information and we'll help you raise funds for refugees.

Public Speaking
-
If you are interested in public speaking in order to share the stories of refugees with Canadians at your church, school, or social group, please download a free copy of our Facilitator's manual. This document, originally designed to help students speak about refugees with their peers, has some excellent information and techniques that can easily be adapted for any audience.
